I'm so excited that I made it into round two of the competition over at Sugar Nellie's! I was honored to be chosen as one of the 12 finalists chosen to move on to round two. For round two, we can make any card that we like; any style, any color, anything goes.
I've used the Party Frills stamp since the other requirement is to use a stamp from the Simply Sassy line. Her she is:
I colored her up with my copics. I added some stickles to her frills for some bling. Every girl's gotta have some bling! I punched out the butterfly using a Martha Stewart punch and added some glitter to it and popped it up on the bench. I added more bling with the rhinestones on each of the corners of the card.
Now you'll notice that the card is on it's end. The reason for this that I wanted as much of the background to show as possible, so turning it on it's end made all the difference. If you look closely, you'll see that the background is woven. I used the basket weave technique to create it. I chose some Prima Fairy paper and cut it into 1/4 inch strips. Then I wove them all together to create the background. I love the fact that it adds alot of depth to the card.
Here's a close up of the basket weave:
When I was in Michael's this weekend, I saw this papier mache book and my creativity radar went off full blast! I just knew I had to have it and turn my card into a gift set. I decided to make a matching treasure box for my card. I painted it with acrylic paint, and covered it with pink and green cardstock as well as matching Prima Fairy paper. I cut out the image and the background with spellbinders label dies. I added a Prima butterfly to the front--don't you love those fancy butterflies? I also added some timy roses to the top of the image that I got from Wild Orchid Crafts. The metal corners are from the Dollar Store.
Here's the treasure box:
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think of the set and the basket weave in particular. I'd love to hear from you.
Have a great weekend.
Janet
