My Favorite Things Valentine

To enter my follower blog candy, click here.

My newest Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things arrived last week and I inked it up right away.

I chose to make a gate fold card this time.  I found a tutorial online (I'll link it up later) and really fell in love with the design.  The heart holds the card closed with the use of a small velcro dot.  The card opens up to look like this:

I followed the rules for the MFT Guest designer contest by using 2 cardstock colors(not including the neutral base), one patterned paper, and three embellishments (stickles, rhinestones and a felt heart).  Copics were used to color the image.  I also stamped the image on the inside of the card, along with the sentiment, using momento ink.

Waltzingmouse CASE

If you were on the latest Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog waltz, you'll know that there is a challenge going on.  Participants are asked to CASE a card, and the focus is on spellbinder dies.

I CASED the card found here.  Anya created it and it's a beauty of a card.  I really loved the simplicity of it, and decided to try one out.  Here's my attempt:

Here's the inside:

I used stamps only made by Claire at Waltzingmouse Stamps. I used Victorian Fripperie.  I stamped the images using versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I used my circle spellbinder die to create the embossed circle in the centre of the card.

Claire has a great selection of stamps that fit perfectly with many of the spellbinder dies. If you're a spellbinder lover like I am, these stamps are definitely for you. Be sure to pop over to Claire's store to check them out.

Hope you had a great weekend.  Next post is blog candy!

New, new, new

A couple of new things for me in this card:  a sketch from a new blog I've never participated in before; using a feather on a card; and a new digi stamp from Kenny K.

The sketch is from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 100  and I stumbled across it last week on my search for a sketch to try out to help my waning card making mojo.

I can't remember which blog it was, but I saw someone showcase one of these new Kenny K stamps, and I love their attitude so I bought one and finally colored it up.  Kenny K's Krafty Girlz also have a challenge up so I'll be linking this card to that.

I'm off to create some new cards. I've cleaned out my stamping area because I lost a stamp and needed to find it for a class next week. Still haven't found it.....sigh.  But, on the plus side, I have a nice tidy area to work in, so I'm going to take advantage of that.  Also, it's -31C outside so this is a great reason to stay put inside.

Supper today is going to consist of Molasses Oat Bread (recipe from a Canadian Living Magazine--not sure which one I ripped it from) and Lentil Soup with Sweet Potatoes and Spinach.  (pizza subs for those who aren't adventurous..lol).   I got the soup from this blog--oh so yummy recipes there. Tomorrow I'm going to make Tortellini Soup, from the same blog.

Some Bunny Loves You

This is my very first attempt at digital scrapbooking. It's been something I've wanted to try for almost a year and just last month I bought the program I wanted to try.  I bought some digi papers and got very frustrated trying to load therm. Contacted my consultant who said that I could only upload digi papers from that company. Swore alot, got quite mad, and then decided to get creative. Voila!  I figured out a way to use paper that wasn't from that company.  HAHA!  (waving my fist at the company and cheering for myself!)

Actually, I totally understand that a company would want you to use their own products. I get that. Really I do. But...I found other digi papers and embellishments that made my heart go pitter patter and I so desperately wanted to try them out. Where there's a will there's a way, right?

Keep in mind that this is my first attempt. It's quite simple, yet I like it.  I used a picture of my boys taken at my youngest grade 12 graduation. (Thanks to all those of you who exclaimed, "Why, Janet, You're way too young to have a child graduating from high school!"  Blessings to all of you!  lol)

Most importantly, I used a digi stamp from Prairie Fairy Designs.  Roberta is having a DT call and I'm entering.  She gave a digi freebie to use, and I've added it in the corner of my page. You can check out the details of the DT call by visiting it here Prairie Fairy Designs is one of my favorite companies. If you scroll back through my posts, you'll see that I often use an image from this company. If you haven't seen any, be sure to pop over to the store or blog to check it all out. The images are to die for.

Thanks for visiting and keep warm. It's supposed to be -41C here tomorrow morning!  Brrrrrr.  It will definitely be a cold drive to work.

Janet

Happy birthday to you

I finally made a birthday card. It's been ages.  Here it is:

I've used the cupcake image from Prairie Fairy Designs.  It's a great image and digi stamps are so versatile--you can make them any size you want. I totally love that about digi stamps.

Supplies used:
Copic markers V04, 09
Stickles--purple and frosted lace mixed together
Stickles--frosted lace on the scallopped circle and embossed background
Happy Birthday Cuttle bug folder
White ribbon

Prairie Fairy DT Call

I've been a fan of Prairie Fairy Designs ever since I came across them almost one year ago.  I had the opportunity to meet Roberta and her friends at a crop that I popped in---ok--some might call it stalking....lol.....it's a joke of course......but Roberta was kind enough to humor me and we had a little bit of a chat while I saw some of her work first hand. Those three women were very friendly and alot of fun and I've been hooked on her digi's ever since.

If you haven't seen the digi's over at Prairie Fairy Designs, you are definitely missing something great. Be sure to pop over soon and check them out as I think you will be very happy you did.

Prairie Fairy Designs is have a DT call.  Being on this DT is definitely on my bucket list, and I'm trying out for this call.

Enough blathering.  Here is my card:

I used the freebie image provided by Prairie Fairy for this DT call.  I colored him with my Copics---R81, C1,3,5,7,  and E53.  I used my cuttlebug heart dies to cut the hearts out of silver paper, and glued and popped them onto the card. I added a heart button that I had in my stash. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and is stamped with momento ink.

Thanks so much for all your comments.  I read them all and definitely appreciate them.

It's Waltzing Time!

I just love this time of the month---when we get to waltz around the world and feast our eyes on all the beauty....nothing could be better, in my opinion.

The theme for this month's waltz is Valentines \ Love. I chose to create a card around the theme of love, and once again, I decided to use very non-traditional colors.  Without further adieu, here is my card:

I followed the sketch that's available for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I used grey cardstock and stamped it with one of the stamps from the Musical Backgrounds set.  I stamped it in SU Basic Grey ink and them embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I also inked all the edges to give it a distressed, vintage look.  The sentiment was stamped using the same ink and was cut out using one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tag dies.  Before I removed the paper from the die, I sponged the same ink on the tag.  Lastly I added two blue rhinestones to the tag.

Thanks for waltzing by...and enjoy the rest of the waltz. I know it's going to be filled with gorgeous pieces of artwork.

The Winner will receive:

The Top 3 will receive one image of choice.  The theme is turquoise and black or brown.

Here's the care I've made for the challenge:

Once again I used my favorite copics to color Tellen's image.  I got some new BG colors for Christmas so this was the perfect challenge to try them out.  I used my spellbinders to cut out the image and the oval frame for it.  I added some ribbon and rhinestones for embellishments. I kept the card very simple, as the dp is pretty busy and full of color.

I hope you like it and it would be great it you'd join us in this challenge. Be sure to pop over to the
Creative Cowgirls Challenge Blog and check out all the DT's creations--They are gorgeous!

Shabby and Sassy

I'm a big fan of the Simply Sassy stamps from Sugar Nellie.  If you haven't had a chance to check them out, you definitely should.  Today's card features this stamp, called Luv A Latte.  I purchased it from Funky Kits.  It's a great store, and has wonderful shipping, by the way.  The Simply Sassy Blog is having a Guest Design Team call and I'm entering using this card.

I distressed alot of this card using my distressing tool from Heidi Swapp.  I also inked up the edges of the paper to add to the distressing. The image was stamped with Momento ink and colored with my new Copic colors!  I got some new BV colors for Christmas so this was a great time to try them out.  I added some glossy accents to the coffee in the cup.  The flowers on the sides of the image are part of a length of ribbon.

Thia card is also an easel card, so here is a side view of it:

Here is a front view of it.  I decorated the inside of the card as well. I used off white cardstock and trimmed it to fit. I punched out the bottom edge using an EK Success edge punch and them inked it up as well.  I added some brads to help hold the card up to display it.

I used one of my FAVORITE Flourishes images. It's called Strawberries and it can be found here.  Strawberry picking is one of my favorite annual events, so it's no wonder that I love coloring up this image.  I used my copics to color up the image, another of my FAVORITE things.  I used a sketch for the layout, another FAVORITE, of late.  I used the candy hearts cuttlebug valentine folder to emboss the red cardstock. I used the Magnolia doily die to cut out the white half doily.  The sentiment was stamped with momento ink on white paper and cut out and embossed with the fancy tag spellbinders die.  I inked the edges of the fancy tag and the doily with ballerina pink SU ink.  Lastly I added some white ribbon and pearls as embellishments.

Isn't she lovely......

Tilda has been sorely missing from my blog lately. I finally managed to get her out and color her up.  Her she is:

Isn't she lovely?  Turquoise really suits Tilda. This Tilda is called Tilda Throwing Heart Rice and she is available here. Copics were used to color her up.  I used the last of my favorite black shiny paper on this card too. Sigh. I guess I'll have to search online stores to find more. I just love that stuff.

Here are the challenges I'm entering this card into:

Lots of Sugar

I pulled out another sugar Nellie stamp and inked her up. She's been sitting far too long without being used, so it was definitely time to get her stamped up.  She's called Manga Fairy and she's available here.

I'm entering this card into the challenge over at The Sugar Bowl. It's their 2nd Birthday and their 50th Challenge, so I thought I'd take a stab at it.

I must say that Funky Kits is exceptional at shipping!  Imagine my surprise when it took my stamp order 3 days to arrive from their business in Scotland to my mailbox in Manitoba, Canada!  Three to cheers to Funky Kits!

On to the card:

Copics were used to color the image and bling was added with some stickles on the stars and wings.  I followed the sketch provided, and added flower brads.  I really like the bright colors....so springy and such a change from winter / christmas colors.

Too Much Cake

It's my Dad's birthday this week and I wanted to make him a birthday card.  I followed the Mojo Monday sketch this week--I really into sketches lately.  Here it is:

I used a Kraftin Kimmie image called Miles the Mouse...isn't it cute?  I believe it's called Too Much Cake. I really love the look on Miles' face while he's passed out in the cake. There's no chance that my Dad will eat too much cake...he's not a sweets type of guy, but he loves humor, so I think he'll get a chuckle out of the image.

I distressed the card using my Heidi Swapp distresser as well as inking the edges of the image with some SU chocolate chip ink.  I added some texture with the swiss dots cuttlebug folder and used my copics to color up Miles.  I added a bit of bling with some stickles for the icing.

A New Baby

Here's a card that would work really well for a new baby:

I used a Prairie fairy image and colored it with copics, and I chose bright green and purple paper. I wanted something different, and didn't want the traditional pink or blue papers for this baby card.  I think it really works with this image.  I added some bling with the stickles and rhinestones in the flowers, which, by the way, were made using the sizzix flower die.

Creative Cowgirls Sunday Challenge

It's time for another challenge over at Creative Cowgirls.  Did you see the entries for our last challenge? AMAZING!  WoW!  I'm totally in awe of all that creativity!

This week we are sponsored by Pollycraft.  Pollycraft is providing a voucher to their store to the winner. Woohoo!  The theme for this challenge is Something New.

Here's the card I've created, using a Pollycraft image. Isn't she adorable? Her name is Primrose Fairy and I just fell in love with her.

I used my copics to color her and added some bling with a bit of stickles to her wings. I created my own ribbon flower using Papertrey Ink ribbon I've had in my stash for ages. The paper is from a Martha Stewart paper pack that I received as a gift a while ago as well.  The bling in the middle of the flower is a new button from Bazzill--I saw those at a LSS and just had to have those buttons. I bought one of every shape and have been really stingy using them, but it really works in this card.

Copics used: BG000, BG15, BG18, BG23, R29, R83, C0, N5, Y00, T02, Y04, Y11, YG07, E00, E02, E33

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope you had a great evening last night, and kept yourselves safe.  We had a very quiet evening here. I've been under the weather, and am now recovering, which explains why my blog has been so quiet.

I've finally started to create cards again and here is the first one I did.  I used a stamp that hadn't seen ink yet...one from one of the sets from Bildmalarna.

Copics were used again to color it, and I used a sketch from Sketch Saturday.   I used some silver stickles for bling and the sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink set.

I hope you like it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
