Cupcake Anyone?

It's Sunday today so at Paperworks Co that means it's an Anything But A Card Day. Here's my contribution:
I've seen these cupcake holders on a number of blogs, and I've been toying with the idea of making one for a while, and TAADAA! Here it is! It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to make, and I think it makes a great little gift.  Here's a picture of the top view of the cupcake holder, without the cupcake:
I've used Medic Abby as the focal image for this item. My original idea was to make this cupcake holder for someone who was a bit under the weather, and needed a nice treat to boost them up. Isn't she a cute image? She's great to color too. I've used my copics on her.  I cut out some triangles to make a banner and used some yellow and white twine to put it all together.  I believe that the paper I used was Bella Rose, but don't quote me.  LOL   To cut out the hole for the cupcake I used my circle spellbinder die.    If you'd like to try to make your own cupcake holder, here is the template and tutorial I used.

Be sure to link up your creations over at Paperworks Co! I'd love to see what you come up with.

It's Hop Time!

It's a great day today because it's RELEASE DAY at PAPERWORKS CO!  Can you tell I'm excited?!!!!!

Paperworks Co is releasing two new sets today.  They are Barnyard Buddies and Forest Critters and they are the cutest stamps ever!  They also come with the best sentiments.

If you've arrived here from Tanya's blog then you are on the right track. If not, you may want to start at the beginning of the hop so you don't miss a thing.  Start here at the Paperworks Co blog.

Here are my samples:

Here's  cute Becky the Bunny from the Forest Critters set. This card was my sneak peek.

Here's my next card.  It's Shelley the Sheep from the Barnyard Buddies set.

Isn't it cute?  I added some liquid applique to the lamb for texture.

The third card is from the Barnyard Buddies and I'm featuring Harry the Horse.  Here he is:

Don't you love that sentiment? It's only one of many that comes with this set.  I love that sense of humor.

Now here's another sample from the Forest Critters set.  I've got the Orest the Owl to show you next.

Don't forget to leave a comment as one lucky winner, from all comments left on the hop, will win the Barnyard Buddies set and the Forest Critters set.

Scrapping in Gimli

I was lucky enough to be invited to teach two copic marker classes at Marilyn's scrapbooking retreat in Gimli. Marilyn is the owner of Scrapbookers Anonymous-- my favorite LSS in Winnipeg.  She's a great lady and her store carries awesome stuff.  Here are some pictures that I got to take before I started teaching.

Gimli is a beautiful spot in Manitoba, in any season. We took a walk on the boardwalk and this was our first view.

It was a great day and the ladies were so much fun to work with.

Here's a sneak peek from me:

If you visit the DT blogs you'll get to see an assortment of sneak peeks prior to the release later this month. It's a good one and you won't want to miss it.

Abby's Note Pad

You can never have enough notepads, right? That's my thought.  I always seem to have a few on the go....in different places, so I never run out of places to make  lists.  Here's one I made for Paperworks Co Anything But A Card Sunday:

I used Abigail - Spring Swing which is available here.  She's such a cute image, and she works for many different projects.  I colored her with copics, and then used my spellbinders to cut her out.  I added some rhinestone bling, and used paper I had in my stash.

I also made my own cover for the note pad that I had in my stash.  I used my score board and measured the pad, and added a little bit for a border. Technical, eh?  LOL  I usually just go with the flow and measure and add that every so accurate 'little bit' to the measurements.

Have you created ABAC? I'd love to see what you've got up your sleeve.
Ciao, Janet

ABAC Paperworks Co Sunday

It's a decorative candle today!  It's a fun and easy project that makes a nice gift for someone, or a nice decoration just for you!

The candle was purchased at a local department store and I stamped Abigail C's Spring Swing stamp onto tissue paper.  I cut it out and then placed it on the candle. I used my hair dryer (since I couldn't find my heat embossing tool) and heated up the candle and tissue paper until the was just started to melt and the tissue paper wunk into the wax.  I added some ribbon and bow with brad for an accent.

Voila!  A cute and easy gift is born!

What are you working on today?

A Beautiful Fairy

I love this fairy. She's gorgeous and when I think of her, the song "She's Always A Woman to Me" pops into my head. Don't you love that song?  I sure do.

I used the Fairy digi stamp from Mo Manning.  She's colored in copics and her wings are glitzed up with stardust stickles.  I used a sketch from Scrapbookers Paradise....but I'm too late to post it in their sketch challenge. Sigh.   I believe the papers are from Authentique....I just love that yellow.

I used Pink Ribbon L'il Lolita available here at Tickled Pink. Pop over there and check out their digi stamp for this month. They're on at a great price and proceeds go to Pink Ribbon Day at the end of October.

I used Authentique paper and colored with a variety of pink copic markers. I also added some bling with pink pearls.  You can't see it so well in the picture, but the grey cardstock is embossed with the paisley cuttlebug folder.

A Deconstructed Sketch

I've been following Jen's blog for a while now, but haven't yet tried a sketch. Well, this weekend allowed me to try it out twice.  I really like this sketch:

I'm sure that I will use this sketch quite a bit.  Here's my first sample, using this sketch:

I used a Hanglar Stanglar image for this card. Their theme this week is Just Me.  I chose the image because I like to have time to celebrate and I love fizzy drinks--can you see the sparkle in the drink? I've made it an Italian Soda, since I've been making lots of these lately.   I've added some different textures--some dry embossing with my cuttlebug, some big beautiful ribbon roses, and some corner pieces.

Here's my second card:

I used jillibean papers for this sketch, along with some cardstock.  I added some bling to the cake as well.  I'm in love with this color combination. Once I matched these papers, I went to town, as you can see by both these cards.

Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab

This is the first time I've ever a card over at Moxie Fab--it's the Tuesday Trigger. I've added alot of metal here--brads in the corner and a metal flourish behind the bow.  I also used a copper metal sheet and embossed with the swirls folder through my cuttlebug.  The image is colored with copics.

Hope you like it!  Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating!

ABAC at Paperworks Co

I really loving this snowman.  Aren’t they adorable?!!!  They are called Flaky Friends.  I’ve used my copics again. (That’s definitely a theme with me. I think I need to challenge myself to use another medium.  lol)  I used some leftover Christmas paper I had in my stash from last year to make the star stand out. The star is a paper mache star that I bought at my local crafting store.  I painted it with acrylic paints and then added the paper and glittered up snowflake.  Lastly I popped the image on to it.
It’s a great tree decoration and quick to whip up for a gift as well.  It’s quite inexpensive to make, so it would be great to have a few around the house for surprise guests.
I hope that you will try an ABAC project along with us.  Please link us up to your post, so that we can check out your creations!
Happy Sunday!  Janet

Spotlighting an Inchie

I've never made an inchie card before, so today is a first.  It's also one of the few Christmas cards I've gotten around to making this year.....I'd better get started on that.  LOL

I used the wreath set from Flourishes, which I can't find on their website.  I stamped it in Momento ink twice.  I cut out an inchie from the second image and colored it up. In hindsight, I should have colored it first, then cut it out. I popped it up on the image.

Think Pink

Was it a beautiful day for you too? It was absolutely gorgeous here in southern Manitoba.  About 20 degrees C, a slight wind and SUNNY!

Today I'm going to show you a pink card I made this weekend.

It's distressed in a couple of ways. Since I can't find my distressing tool  (where do these things hide anyway?!)  I used the edge of my scissors to distress the edges of the card. I also sponged some of my TH distress ink onto the edges of my image and once it was colored, I added some glossy crackle to it.  I left it to dry overnight and when I saw it in the morning, I was so upset. It was all curled and ugly looking. I managed to salvage it though, by pressing it under some heavy books for a day.  That's a good tip for me to remember for another time.  The image is a Prairie Fairy image--Nurse Gillian.

I hope you like it. I'm entering this card in a number of challenges:

Paper Sundaes--lots of layers

She pursued big realities

I've been working on this canvas for about a week, and am really happy with how it turned out.  I've been inspired by Julie Fei-Fan Balzar and have signed up for her Stencil 101 class.  I can hardly wait for my stencils to arrive, but I've been trying out her techniques and playing around with canvas.

The saying is really very meaningful to me, and I've chosen a Tiddly Inks digi stamp to use with it.  I've used acrylic paints, tissue paper for texture, modge podge, Papertreyink alpha stamps, stazon ink, and glossy accents, along with my copics and a sakura clear sparkle pen.

It's going to be displayed in my classsroom sometime this year.  It's my canvas/inspiration display I'm working on.

Thanks for popping by.

Anything But A Card Challenge at Paperworks Co.

Today at Paperworks Co, it's Anything But a Card Sunday. Here's my creation:

I used the test tube tutorial found here at Splitcoaststampers.com   I don't really make anything special for Halloween, but I love these test tubes, so I thought I would make one as a special gift.  The template is really easy to follow, so give it a try.

I used the called VDay Bunny stamp and I also used copics to color her up. I  added stickles for some bling on the heart and used the Bo Bunny paper I got at my LSS.  I filled the test tube with smarties--who doesn't love smarties?!

It would be great to see your ABAC creations.  Will you join us?
