Waltzingmouse Challenge #4

I've been following the challenges over at the Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge blog. I'm really enjoying these challenges. The sketches are quite unique and I'm finding, very challenging.

Here is the sketch we are to use this week:

Since I don't have many stamps sets from Waltzingmouse Stamps, I'm having to be more creative and think outside the box. What seems to work is using some stamps as background stamps. That's what I did this week.

Today I chose the Celtic Heritage set. It was one of the first sets I purchased. I used one of the stamps to create the background. Then I used prima flowers for the circle. I colored the flower centres with my copic marker so that it matched the paper I was using. For the sentiment, I chose the Fancy Phrases set again, and stamped it with versa mark and embossed it with white embossing powder, and then popped up the centre after I cut it out with my circle spellbinders.

I love the two tone colors, and the flowers just seem to set it off for me. I hope you like it.

Butterflies....make me think of spring!

Hey there! It's been a gorgeous couple of days here. Sunny and warm! I'm loving it. What I'm really loving the most though, is hearing the song birds. I walk the dog every morning...VERY early...and it's been so quiet all winter. Now, the birds are just singing away. I didn't realize how much I've missed them, until I heard them start up again. It's so nice to know that spring is definitely here.

With that in mind, I created a card based on butterflies. I saw this new Prima paper, and feel immediately in love with it. Butterflies everywhere. So I used it as my main patterned paper and built my card around it. I punched out some other butterflies using my Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I pressed them into my glue pad and then sprinkled them with glitter. I used glue dots to secure them to the card, and bent the bodies so that they would be more 3D.

I also cut out one of the butterflies from the Prima paper and popped it up on the centre of the card.

I hope you like it! I also hope you are having beautiful weather too, in your neck of the woods.
